Houts Law, PLLC is currently hiring for the position of Legal Assistant.
Legal Assistant will report directly to Managing Partner.
Compensation dependent on experience.
Job Description:
Responsibilities include; organizing and managing files, acting as receptionist, scheduling meetings and appointments, and supporting other staff with organizational tasks.
Legal Assistant will also make trips to offsite locations as needed.
Clerical Work: Clerical responsibilities include, but not limited to, communicating via phone, email, and face to face; keeping office calendar up to date and ensuring attorney is prepared for upcoming events; mail sorting, distribution; scanning, uploading, and filing documents.
Offsite Work: Errands include, but not limited to; post office, court houses, printing centers, and driving managing partner to hearings. Contractor must provide his or her own mode of transportation. Mileage will be compensated at the rate of $.70 a mile.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. College experience/degree preferred.
Law office experience preferred.
Access to reliable automobile and valid driver’s license.
Experience with Microsoft Office.

Houts Law is actively looking for a part time Legal Intern.
Beginning pay is $15/hr with review at 120 days.
The intern works directly with the firm’s attorneys to advance the clients’ interests. Accordingly, strong writing and organizational skills are of critical importance.
The primary job responsibilities include; communicating with opposing counsel and court personnel; drafting pleadings and other legal documents; reviewing, analyzing, summarizing pertinent records and evidence; researching, writing and maintaining client files.
Other expectations for applicants include:
•Bachelor's Degree and Graduate Law School experience;
•Highly proactive with attention to detail, dependable, and extremely organized, with strong writing skills;
•Excellent computer skills, including command of Word and Excel;
•Excellent proofreading skills; and
•Punctual and reliable.
